Received by the National Fruit Trials in 1944 from Reading University, Berkshire, England. Fruits have crisp, fine, white flesh with a sweet flavour.

Raised in 1955 by Agricultural Experiment Station, Indiana, Illinois and New Jersey, USA. First fruited in 1961. Fruits are sweet, crisp and juicy. Resistant to scab.

Spaanse Keiing (01-Jan.)

Originated in East Flanders, Belgium. Received by the National Fruit Trials in 1948. Fruits have firm, rather coarse, whitish flesh with an acid flavour.

Spartan Sport (06-Dec.)

Sold commercially as Spartan but the color is not correct. Assumed to be a sport of Spartan but may just be a mis-labeling.

Raised in 1926 by R.C.Palmer at the Dominion Experiment Station, Summerland, British Columbia, Canada. Introduced in 1959. Fruits have firm, crisp, fine-textured, juicy flesh with a sweet, pleasant and slightly vinous flavour.
